Cliffs and Caves... Des falaises et des grottes

Day/Jour 92 - 02/09/10

We left nice and early for a new adventure... Got the train to Lyon (thanks to Papy who dropped us to Besancon). We spent the afternoon visiting Lyon. Took the funiculare up to Fourviere hill and had a good walk around, saw some pretty cool views of the city and the ruins of a Roman theatre.
Nous sommes parties de bonne heure et de bonne humeur pour une nouvelle aventure... Nous avons pris le train pour Lyon (merci Papy pour nous avoir emmener a Besancon). Nous avons passer l'apres midi pour visiter la ville de Lyon. Nous sommes aller en haut de la Fourviere en funiculaire et nous nous sommes tout bien ballader. On a vue de tres belle vue panoramic de la ville et aussi les ruines dans theatre Romain.


   

Back down the hill, we cruised around the old part of town on our way back to the train station (to catch the tram to the airport).
De retour en bas de la colline, nous nous ballader dans la veille ville en retournant a la gare (pour chopper le tram jusqu'a l'aeroport).

   

After a very long trip, we finally arrived in Gatwick where we spent the night in the Ibis Hotel... Rubbish compared to our somewhat higher standards... such as the Marriott... :p
Apres un tres long voyage, nous sommes enfin arriver a Gatwick ou nous avons passer la nuit a l'hotel Ibis... De la m*rde comparer a ce quoi on a l'habitude... tel que le Marriott... :p

Day/Jour 93 - 03/09/10
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME !!! Wow 24 years old...
JOYEUX ANNIVERSAIRE A MOI !!! Whoua 24 ans...

So after a birthday breakfast in the hotel (those things cost a fortune...) we picked up the car from the airport (can you beleive they didnt give us a birthday discount? ) and headed to Holyhead.
Donc apres un petit dej' d'anniversaire (ces machins la coutent cher...) nous avons recuperer la voiture de l'aeroport (ils nous on meme pas fait une remise parceque c'etait mon anni...) et somme parit direction Holyhead.



After 7 hours drive, we got to our destination. Normally 5hrs plus 1hr of roadwork and 1hr because a car got on fire... serious, we saw a family across the motorway, holding a bag each... how to ruin your holidays... :-o
Apres avoir rouler pendant 7 heures, nous sommes arriver a notre destination. Normalement, ca prend 5h, plus 1h de travaux et 1h parcequ'une voiture a pris feu... serieusement, on a vue une famille de l'autre cote de l'autoroute avec une valise chacun... ca gache un peu les vacances... :-o

So off we went all 5 of us, to Liverpool, Mum and Raphael on the bike and The child, Kathy and I in the car. Took a bit of the scenic drive through the Snowdonia Mountains...
Donc nous y voila parti les 5, direction Liverpool, Maman et Raphael en moto et Fany, Kathy et moi en voiture. On a pris un chemin touristique qui passait par les Montagnes au nord du Pays de Galle (Snowdonia)...


 

Once there, I got a lil birthday present (thanks mum and Raphael) and we went for dinner and a stroll through the city...
Une fois arriver, j'ai recu un petit cadeau (merci maman et Raphael) et nous sommes aller au resto et nous ballader un petit peu...

 

Day/Jour 94 - 04/09/10
We parted ways with the parents and headed East to our first accommodation in Yorkshire. A pretty cool mobile home. We even found (by accident), no more than 5km away, the passage of the Greenwich Meridian... :)
Nous nous sommes separer des parents et sommes aller direction Est vers notre premier logement au Yorkshire. Un petit mobile home plutot cool. On a meme trouver (Par hazzard), a pas plus de 5km, le passage de la meridiene de Greenwich... :)

  

Day/Jour 95 - 05/09/10
The first official day out, we headed north towards Flamborough Head (cool looking chalk cliffs). Made a few stops on the way such as, the Hornsea Mere where we saw a LOT of migrating grey lag geese and ducks and swans and even black swans...
Notre premiere journe officielle de sortie, nous sommes aller direction Nord pour aller a Flamborough Head (des cool falaises de craie). Nous avons fait quelque arret en chemin, comme au Lac de Hornsea ou nous y avons vu BEAUCOUP d'oie migrateur et des canards et des cignes et meme des cignes noires...

   

Had lunch on Fraisthourpe Beach (which is near Bridlington)
Nous avons fait une pose midi sur la Plage de Fraisthourpw (qui est a cote de Bridlington)

 

And finally went to the Bempton Cliffs Nature Reserve on Flamborough Head where we saw heaps of Gannets
Et enfin nous sommes aller a la Reserve Naturelle de Bempton Cliffs a Flamborough Head ou nous y avons vu pleins de fou de bassant

   

Day/Jour 96 - 06/09/10
Today was a fun day... We travelled the 180 odd km to the How Stean Gorge which is located North, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dale. Equipped with hard hats and a torch, off we went exploring...
Aujourd'hui on s'est bien amuser... Nous avons parcourue les 180 et quelque km jusqu'a "How Stean Gorge" qui est au Nord, en plein millieu des colinne du Yorkshire. Equipees de casque et d'une torche, nous y voila parti... 

 

We started off above the gorge looking down at the really cool rock pools carved out by the water over many years. We then ventured through a dark tunnel underground where we definately needed our torches. It was a lot of teamwork to help eachother climb through the tunnel without falling in the water, slipping on the rocks or hitting our heads - thanks to the helmets we have no brain injuries yet!!!
On a commencer en haut de la gorge, en regardant les troue dans les rocher en bas, sculpter dans la roche pendant des annees. Nous sommes ensuite aller dans un tunnel sous-terrain et la on avait franchement besoin de nos torches. C'etait un sacre travail d'equipe, etre sur que personne ne tombe dans l'eau, glisse sur la roche ou se tappe la tete, heureusement qu'on avait nos casques, personne n'a le crane fracturer...

   

After our walk through the tunnel we had wet feet so we decided to continue down the gorge over slippery rocks getting our feet wet and our bums dirty - Indiana Jones style.
Apres notre ballade dans le tunnel, on avait les pieds mouilles, donc on a decider de continuer dans la gorge sur les facade glissande, de l'eau jusqu'aux genoux et les fesses toute sales - Facon Indianna Jones. 


  

We also went through a cave - Tom Taylor's Cave and made our way to the surface again. We all had an awesome day!!! :)
Nous avons aussi visiter une grotte - La grotte de Tom Taylor et nous nous sommes retrouver de nouveau a la surface... On s'est toutes bien amuser... :)
